1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Momo Designs cc (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal information in connection with our website (www.momoworx.com) and the Cali Calibration Management software (“Software”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and to complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa.

By using our website or Software, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

2. Who is responsible for your information

Momo Designs cc is the “responsible party” (data controller) for the personal information described here.

3. A key point: Cali is offline-first

Cali stores your calibration records, certificates, customer details and other working data on your own computers (“Your Data”). In normal use, we do not collect, see, store or have access to Your Data. You control it, and where you enable optional cloud backup or multi-computer sync, you choose and control those services.

This Policy therefore mainly concerns the limited personal information we handle to sell, license and support the Software — not the contents of your calibration database.

4. Information we collect

We may collect and process the following:

a) Information you give us - Name, business name, email address and phone number (for example, when you start a trial, buy a licence, or contact support). - Billing details needed to complete a purchase (processed by our payment provider — see clause 6). - Any information you choose to share with us in support requests.

b) Licensing and activation information - Your Licence Key and subscription status. - A machine identifier generated from your computer for the purpose of activating and protecting your licence (used for offline activation and to prevent licence misuse). This is used for licensing only.

c) Website and technical information - Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through standard web logs and cookies, to keep the website secure and working. See clause 9 on cookies.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal information, and you should not send us any through support channels unless necessary.

5. Why we use your information (purpose and lawful basis)

We use personal information to:

Under POPIA, we rely on the lawful bases of performance of our contract with you, our legitimate business interests (such as licence protection and service improvement), your consent where required (for example, marketing emails), and compliance with the law.

6. Payments (Paystack)

Payments are processed by Paystack, an independent third-party payment provider. When you pay, your payment details are collected and processed by Paystack under their privacy policy and security standards. We do not receive or store your full card details — we receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction information needed to manage your order and subscription.

7. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

Some providers may process information outside South Africa. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with POPIA.

8. How we protect and keep information

8.1 We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

8.2 We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, after which we delete or anonymise it.

8.3 Because Your Data lives on your own computers, its security and backup are your responsibility, including protecting passwords and any encryption secrets used by optional backup/sync features.

9. Cookies and website analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to function correctly, keep the site secure, and understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the website works.

10. Your rights under POPIA

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by law. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
